Chioma Egodi, who was accused to have projected Erisco Foods Limited’s Nagiko Tomato Mix, in a bad light on a social media platform, has apologised to the company, said Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

Industrial Times learned that Egodi made a comment about the product that annoyed the manufacturer .

Consequently, she was arrested by the Police in Lagos and flown to an  Abuja Police station on the petition of the company.

Eric Umeofia, the Founder and President
of the company said that the criticism wasn’t funny and threatened to sue her to court.

“Is she right to falsely criticise my product, and people are supporting her?

I have over 3000 people in my factory; indirectly, we are paying 20,000 people.

I cannot allow this type of ‘syndicate’ to come and destroy my business.

“I’ve been producing this product for over 10 years, and somebody cannot come overnight to [spoil it]. Should I allow her because she’s the weaker one?

She’s not the first person to have done a product review.”

“When we could not get her, we wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police to help us.

I have the right to write a petition when I’m not feeling comfortable,” Umeofia fumed.

However, in a follow-up on the issue, Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, said that the woman, Chioma Egodi, has written a letter of apology under duress at the police station.

The lawyer added that his client had not done any damage to the product, but said “sugar is too much” in the tomato paste.
