Dr Jumoke Oduwole officially took over today as the Industry, Trade and Investment Minister.

During the sworn-in ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Dr Oduwole pledged to maximize benefits from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to support Nigerian exports and increase foreign investment, focusing on creating productive jobs.

President Bola Tinubu during the ceremony, pleaded with the new ministers to be committed fully to addressing the country’s economic challenges, saying “economic recovery is on the horizon.”

Tinubu acknowledged the impact of high costs of living,  but highlighted his administration’s efforts to ease Nigeria’s financial strain, including cutting debt servicing costs from 97 percent of revenue to 65 percent.

Tinubu also pledged to combat profiteering and smuggling, assuring his ministers they’ll face public scrutiny but urged them to stay focused on stabilizing the economy.
