Kano State is set to strengthen its partnership with Tunisia in several key sectors, including garment production, dairy processing, and dyeing industries.
This collaboration aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both regions to foster economic growth.
During a recent meeting at the Government House in Kano, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf welcomed the Tunisian Ambassador, Mohsen Antit, along with his delegation.
In light of this partnership, Governor Yusuf has instructed the state’s Ministry of Investment, Commerce, and Industries, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, to arrange an exhibition that will showcase Kano’s economic strengths to potential Tunisian investors.
Furthermore, the Governor has directed the Managing Director of the Kano State Investment Promotion Agency (KAN-INVEST) to accompany the ambassador on a tour of significant economic sites throughout the state.
This visit coincides with the ongoing Tunisia-Nigeria Multi-sectoral Economic Forum, which aims to enhance collaboration across various sectors of the economy.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed the state’s commitment to establishing mutually beneficial partnerships, noting that Tunisia’s involvement with Kano represents a substantial step toward strengthening bilateral trade, particularly in agriculture, where both regions present substantial investment opportunities.
The Governor also emphasized the strategic importance of the Kano Dry Port in advancing international trade, mentioning that local businesses are preparing to begin importing goods from Tunisia through this facility, which is anticipated to enhance cross-border commerce.
He expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to 17 Kano entrepreneurs who recently visited Tunisia for business purposes and assured that Kano is committed to providing a welcoming environment for Tunisian investors.
