IMF to assist FIRS in effectively implementing new tax laws

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has expressed its commitment to supporting the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in implementing new tax laws.

Senior Economist Paulo Paz praised FIRS for its progress under Chairman Zacch Adedeji during a mission in Abuja.

He emphasised the implications of the new tax laws and the IMF’s willingness to assist FIRS in addressing related challenges.

Adedeji acknowledged the collaboration with the IMF and highlighted ongoing efforts in portfolio management, compliance programs, and digital transformation.

He emphasised the importance of integrating strategy into manageable tasks.

Mrs. Bolaji Akintola, from the Corporate Services Group, pointed out that the IMF has been instrumental in FIRS’s tax reforms.

She noted significant improvements from previous assessments and affirmed that further progress could be expected with continued efforts under the new tax laws.
