Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called on South-West governors to urgently address the persistent infrastructure deficits that continue to hamper industrial productivity and economic growth in the region.
The National President of MAN, Francis Meshioye, who gave the charge yesterday, during the association’s 42nd yearly general meeting in Osun State, emphasised that unlocking the full potential of manufacturing in the country depends on reliable infrastructure, security, and stable power supply.
Meshioye, who was represented by the Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, stressed that state-level interventions are critical to complementing national policies and driving inclusive economic development through manufacturing.
“We urge the governors to prioritise infrastructure development, particularly in industrial areas. Power supply remains a major challenge in states like Osun, while road networks, water access, and storage infrastructure in Ondo require urgent attention.”
He, therefore, urged continued collaboration under Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), as well as offering tax incentives for manufacturers willing to support critical infrastructure development.
In his response, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting local content, enhancing technical education, and deepening linkages between agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.
He said that the Osun State government would implement an industrial development policy anchored on the triple helix model, a partnership between government, academia, and industry.
