The Vitafoam Group is yet to introduce renewable energy into its power system.

Checks by Industrialtimesngr on the company’s energy management and Co2 footprint, shows that the primary source of energy is the National grid through Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

However, as back-up to the primary source are diesel powered generators installed across various operation sites in Lagos, Jos, Aba and Kano.

” Exhaust gases are extracted through fume extractors and filtered prior to discharge to the environment to prevent emissions of hazardous compounds.”

Industrialtimesngr learned that these generators are routinely maintained by certified energy management contractors.

The group acknowledges that foam blowing processes are a source of hazardous volatile emissions to the environment.
Emissions from heating of resins include volatiles, acetic acid and potentially toxic oxides.

In order to preserve air quality and minimize emissions of volatile solvents including Isocyanate, the following mitigation measures are in place in all the factory locations:
” • Exhaust gases are extracted through fume extractors and filtered prior to discharge to the
environment to prevent emissions of hazardous compounds.”
