The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, (CIBN) has elected Dele Alabi, as the 24th President and Chairman of Council.
The election took place during the Institute’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday in Lagos.
In his acceptance speech , Alabi emphasised that the mandate was not merely a personal milestone but a collective responsibility that required the cooperation of all members.
“I accept the mandate, not as a privilege but as a call to service anchored on integrity, professionalism, and innovation.
This is a collective victory for the entire banking community, and I urge our members, both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, to remain united in sustaining the Institute’s legacy,” Alabi stated.
He paid tribute to the foundations laid by his predecessors, particularly the immediate outgoing President, Pius Olanrewaju, whose tenure oversaw significant institutional growth. Alabi noted, “I acknowledge the contributions of past leaders, particularly Olanrewaju, who laid a strong institutional and financial foundation.
As we move forward, the Institute must not merely adapt to the rapidly evolving financial landscape; we must take a leading role in shaping it.”
