TCN releases latest data on infrastructure coverages nationwide

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), in its latest updated figures, said that it now operates 57 transmission substations at 330kV and 186 substations at 132kV, supported by 496 power transformers nationwide.

The latest data show significant growth in the national grid’s capacity and network coverage as of May 2026. According to the company, installed transformer capacity stands at 17,636MVA on the 330kV network and 22,820.5MVA on the 132kV network.

Also, the transmission network comprises 92 transmission line circuits at 330kV and 215 circuits at 132kV, with a combined transmission line length of over 18,667 kilometres.

The 330kV network spans 9,946.81km with a wheeling capacity of 64,995MW, while the 132kV network covers 8,721km with a capacity of 17,215.25MW.

TCN operates through 10 regional offices, 31 sub-regions and 10 work centres across the country, reflecting the scale of Nigeria’s transmission infrastructure.

The data highlights TCN’s efforts to strengthen the national grid, reduce transmission losses and improve power delivery across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
