The first female Consul- General of People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Ms Yan Yuqing, has expressed her loves for Nigerian peoples, food and the national sport team – the Super Eagles.
During a public event in Lagos, she told the business community, cheerfully : ” I like Nigerian people, I like Nigerian foods : Moy -moy, foofoo, Jollof – Rice.
I like Nigerian football team – Super Eagles. And I like my Nigerian names – Ayo (Yoruba); Uche (Igbo) and Fatima (Hausa). So, I am your friend.”
New Industries for Nigeria, China To Make Money
On the business aspects, she said that Nigeria and China can make money from new industries, specifically in renewable energy and new energy vehicles as well as the development of low- carbon.
Her words: ” As you know, in recent years, the bilateral, economic and trade relationship between China and Nigeria has become increasingly close.
In terms of trade, China is Nigeria’s largest global trade partner. Well, Nigeria is China’s second largest trade partner in Africa. Nigeria mainly exports oil, peanuts, sesame, and other agricultural products to China.
While China exports auto parts, machinery, and other light industrial products to Nigeria.
Regarding investment, China’s investments in Nigeria mainly involve industries like steel, daily necessities, plastic products, food processing, tiles, glass, and so on.
” My Nigerian names – Ayo (Yoruba); Uche (Igbo) and Fatima (Hausa). So, I am your friend.”
There are still areas and potential to be explored in the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Nigeria.
I sincerely hope that both sides can strengthen mutual benefit and win -win cooperation.
China is a manufacturing powerhouse globally, with advantages in the complete industrial chain and development experience of manufacturing.
In strengthening China -Nigeria manufacturing cooperation, China can leverage its strengths in capital, technology, and talent, while Nigeria can give full play to its advantages in market and labor.
It is believed that with joint efforts from both sides, Nigeria can create a better business environment, attracting more Chinese enterprises to invest and develop here, thus creating opportunities for the development of Nigeria’s manufacturing industry.
In recent years, China has emphasized the development of green production capacity, with the green economy now covering areas related to manufacturing; renewable energy and new energy vehicles are being developed.
Promoting the upgrading of traditional manufacturing, ushering in new growth points and driving the overall economic development.
In the future, there are infinite possibilities in our cooperation in the fields of low -carbon and sustainable development.”
