The 2026 Nestlé for Good Summit, organisef by Nestlé Nigeria PLC, was well attended by policymakers, healthcare professionals, academics, civil society organisations, and private sector leaders.
Held in Lagos, the conversation highlighted practical solutions to Nigeria’s deepening nutrition and food security challenges.
In an address of welcome, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, Wassim Elhusseini, said that sustainable access to quality nutrition can only be achieved through resilient value chains supported by long-term investments in sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, livelihoods, and environmental sustainability.
“At Nestlé, we are guided by a simple but powerful purpose: to unlock the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come,” he said.
Elhusseini noted that the company’s “Nestlé for Good” initiative represents a broader strategy focused on nutrition, thriving communities, and environmental stewardship, adding that businesses must increasingly deliver both economic and social value.
Delivering the keynote address, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, said improving nutrition outcomes requires sustained partnerships across public and private sectors.
“The conversations we are having today are not only about food. They are about human capital, productivity, public health, economic growth, and ultimately, the future of our society,” she said.
Also speaking, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, joined other stakeholders in highlighting the need for coordinated interventions capable of addressing interconnected challenges around nutrition, livelihoods, and sustainability.
Executives of Nestlé Nigeria PLC said the summit was designed to move beyond corporate social responsibility conversations toward practical, measurable partnerships capable of strengthening local food systems and improving community resilience.
Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at the company, emphasised that the initiative demonstrates how Nestlé’s products, sourcing operations, partnerships, and community investments collectively contribute to healthier lives and stronger local economies.
